Group Facilitator Job Description

Classification: Exempt

Summary/Objective:

The Group Facilitator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating regular support groups and workshops for community members and customers. This position will be required to encourage peer support and social networking within each group, and teach skills and delivery training when appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe space for the expression of anxieties and exploration and sharing of experience.
  • Negotiate/facilitate conflicts or disagreements that may arise during group meetings.
  • Liaise between company Staff and the group participants.
  • Welcome new members to the group and provide information on the operation of the group
  • Inform group members on how to access information regarding the status of groups and meetings. (weather, unexpected reasons)
  • Inform company Staff of any issues which violate or jeopardize the operation of the service.
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication and leadership skills.
  • Promote a consensus-building approach where every member has a say in the structure of the group.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the individual needs of the client members.
  • Develop and support the activities of the Group.
  • Maintain Health and Safety of the group ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Support the client members to develop their own mutual support network outside of the group if they wish to do so.
  • Encourage participation and involvement from the students/attendees
  • Monitor the suitability of the premises for the purpose of the group. Seek alternative arrangements should the premises become unsuitable.
  • Maintains records of completed training and workshops
  • Provides feedback to staff when modifications could improve the user-friendliness of the programs, applications, and processes for which training is provided.

Qualifications:

  • Peer support certification and/or Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Minimum 1 year experience faciltating group
  • Proficient with MS Windows & Office, Google Suite, and other common computer programs.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills, and attention to detail.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to co-creating a culture that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to patiently explain training material or subject matter to adult attendees
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year

License/Certification:

  • Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (Required)
