What You Do.

  • Compiles personnel assignment schedules for production department in manufacturing plant by performing the following duties.
  • Schedules employees for the next day's production by referencing the work orders for correct staffing requirements and considering the employee's seniority, skill, and ability to the various line positions. Provide schedule for next day's production to specified supervisors and post daily.
  • Facilitate and coordinate a voluntary lay off if required; staffing needs are less than the number of available employees. Make decisions based on skill level and years of service. Combine job functions when production activities allow (i.e. prep room, material handler, and end of line transfer), and reduce support positions accordingly.
  • Ensures accounting accuracy by tracking and adjusting employee's daily clocking into the correct cost center for their line assignment or activity.
  • Work closely with the Production Supervisors along with HR on a variety of issues and manage the strictly confidential information with the highest integrity and accuracy. Ensure all procedures are consistently done accordingly to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all entries in Kronos which include: Paid Time Off (PTO) days, Scheduled Hours, Emergency Hours, FMLA, Short Term Disability, and Layoffs. Keep accurate and detailed records by maintaining text for any absence, FMLA, Early Departure.
  • Manage the weekend schedule rotation of employees and schedule according to the Even/Odd policy.
  • Work with supervisors supporting them to oversee and manage the training needs of plant employees. Determine and schedule training to broaden qualifications and increases flexibility in scheduling production and personnel. Update SAP Employee Skills Matrix weekly. Collaborate with appropriate supervisors to assure specific training is available for appropriate areas.
  • Communicate with other shift schedulers to coordinate transferring of employees from shift to shift, and/or plant locations, and coordinate overlapping overtime to meet staffing demands. Coordinate general communications about daily events from shift to shift (i.e., lines starting up or going down, the need of more staffing due to a special order, extra-work activities, absences that affect the following shift).


Your Education and Experience.

  • High School or GED required
  • Associate degree preferred or six months to one-year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Your Qualifications.

  • Strong computer skills; Word processing, Internet, Power Point, Excel, E-mail.
  • Strong telephone skills.
