The Piping Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) role's main responsibilities are leading the execution of the piping engineering scope for EPCM projects. The SME will provide training, mentorship, and checking of pipe stress analysis and piping packages.

Develop piping flexibility and stress reports with CAESAR II Software. Prepare calculations to address issues such as two-phase flow, water hammer, cyclic service, differential settlement, wind, seismic, PSV thrust force, etc.

Perform FEA evaluation of stresses at nozzles, or for determining user calculated SIFs, using NozzlePro, FE/Pipe or other FEA software.

Identify critical lines requiring pipe stress analysis, review line list to ensure adequate level of criticality is defined, make sound engineering judgements on existing pipe that interacts with project scope.

Technical Consultation: Providing expert advice and consultation on piping engineering design, specifications, codes, standards, and best practices.

Design and Analysis: Reviewing and approving piping system designs, layouts, and equipment selections to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Material Selection: Recommending appropriate materials for piping components based on project specifications, corrosion resistance, pressure ratings, and compatibility with the conveyed fluids.

Quality Assurance: Participating in quality assurance activities to verify the integrity, safety, and reliability of piping systems, including inspection, testing, and documentation review.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Investigating and resolving complex piping engineering issues, such as system failures, leaks, pressure drop problems, and equipment malfunctions.

Collaboration and Coordination: Working closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, contractors, and vendors to ensure effective coordination, communication, and integration of piping systems within larger projects.

Training and Mentoring: Providing training, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to junior engineers and team members to enhance their understanding of piping engineering principles and practices.

20 Years + of applicable experience in Refinery, Petrochemical, and/or EPC Industries.

Texas PE License preferred.

Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (including API 610, API 650, API 660, API 661, ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, etc.)

Expert with CAESAR II, FE/Pipe, NozzlePro.
