Job description
Primarily responsible for coordinating the timely delivery of concrete from plant locations to job sites according to customer requests and expectations while using the most efficient and cost-effective processes possible.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives customer order from order taker or telephone call as well as communicate with walk-in customers.
- Probes customer for information to determine proper quantity, mix, delivery time and job site location for each order. Also makes note of any special or unusual customer requests.
- Suggests value-added products to customers to enhance product performance based on the nature of the customer’s job.
- Enters the customer order timely, accurately and completely into the dispatch system.
- Schedules mixer trucks to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency while meeting the needs and expectations of customers.
- Works closely with operations to ensure drivers are following local, state and federal DOT guidelines and regulations.
- Performs monthly and quarterly reports as required and other duties as assigned by manager or other member of management.
- Coordinates the opening and closing of plant facilities according to established company procedures and guidelines.
- Monitors raw materials to ensure availability to meet anticipated demands to include filling bins with front end loader as appropriate.
- Operates batch console to produce ready mix concrete according to customer and company specifications.
- Communicates with support departments (fleet/plant maintenance, technical services, human resources, etc.) on a timely basis to identify and resolve questions and/or issues.
- Operates equipment on the plant site as needed.
- Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to plant equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Construction or concrete industry experience preferred.
- Experience as a concrete mixer driver is preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of geographic area where dispatching is strongly preferred.
- Experience in concrete production required to include at least 1 year as a concrete mixer driver.
- Current, valid state driver’s license required.
- DOT Level 1 Certification required.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrated proficiency with simple math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (especially percentages) as well as measurements.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
