This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist is an exciting one. The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is the top in comparison with other pediatrics departments in the NY region in NIH research funding.

The Connors Lab (in collaboration with the Milner and Porotto labs) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to join us in our NIH funded efforts investigating the immunologic mechanisms associated with the development of Post Acute Sequalae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC/Long COVID) in children. Our lab has been investigating pediatric immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 including how immune responses contribute to the development of the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, one of the first PASC syndromes, since the beginning of the pandemic. Our work has provided unique insights into the pediatric specific immune response and how distinct clinical disease presentations are associated with early life immunity. The successful candidate will have extensive understanding of the innate and adaptive immune system, development of adaptive immunologic memory, and functional immune responses to viruses. Candidates should have experience and expertise in basic immunologic techniques including (but not limited to) ELISA, Flow Cytometry, and cell culture. Experience with analysis of large datasets and RNA sequencing, particularly single cell sequencing, is an advantage. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills. We are particularly excited to recruit candidates who are creative in their approach to scientific and experimental designs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sample processing and storage
2. Design and conduct of experiments related to funded work
3. Data analysis and presentation of results
4. Preparation and dissemination of results in form of meeting abstracts and manuscripts.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have a doctorate degree (M.D. or Ph.D.)
2. Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines.
3. The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each others contributions.

COMPENSATION
Hiring Salary Range: $61,800 - $64,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
