SAL Community Services (SAL), home to Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers, is the Quad Cities area’s leading provider of early childhood care and education and now includes the Prevention Initiative (PI) program. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for.
SAL is seeking Family Educators to assists in the administration of the Prevention Initiative program and services. This means you’ll do things like:
- Create and implement learning opportunities and family events for the children and families.
- Maintain a system of performance assessment through ongoing observations and documentation collection information to reflect the development of each child.
- Complete a family needs assessment with each family.
- Create and utilize an Individual Family Plan in collaboration with the mental health specialist and program supervisor.
- Assess and evaluate family success in reaching their goals (outcomes) by following up to assess goal attainment or to adjust/adapt goals, as necessary.
- Establish and cultivate collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Conduct in-person, eligibility interviews with applicants.
- Work with the Program Director, the contracted HCCN partners, and center Family Service Providers (FSP) to ensure vacancies are filled in accordance with the program requirements.
- Counsel families seeking child care regarding their case requirements and eligibility for IDHS CCAP and/or PI.
- Travel to centers and in-home child care partners.

Qualifications:
Must obtain background clearances, be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, be able to complete physical tasks such as sit, stand, lift 10 pounds, have at least one year of experience, and have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Social Work or related field.
