Job Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Assist in the pilot, implementation, and evaluation of an adult preparation and teen pregnancy prevention curriculum in classroom and/or group settings within qualifying rural schools. Collaborate with evaluation staff under an Internal Review Board to collect data from participants and submit to evaluators. Strict adherence to study parameters required. Assist in the coordination and delivery of community based grant activities with youth, parents/caregivers and other members of identified service areas to include focus groups, community engagement studios, and local health councils. Attend meetings and trainings. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Ability to travel overnight will be required upon occasion (expenses paid).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to policies and procedures of Centerstone and grant funding entity, as well as, the organizational polices of service delivery settings (i.e. schools, community centers, detention centers, group homes).
- Maintain required written documentation and submit required reports within the specified period of time.
- Collect data under the supervision of an Internal Review Board.
- Operate within the parameters of the intervention study.
- Utilize behavior-management techniques appropriately in classroom and/or group settings.
- Relate to the community, (i.e. school staff, professionals, parents/caregivers, and youth) positively while demonstrating professionalism at all times.
- Maintain a team approach with peers, coordinator and manager by working cooperatively on behalf of the prevention programs, and the children/youth served.
- Demonstrate competency in presenting curricula as evidenced by positive Site Reports and observations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Reliable, insured transportation and a valid driver’s license are mandatory as travel (mileage paid) to setting sites/meetings/trainings is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal, in both in person and virtual settings.
- Experience in develoing/refining classroom lesson content.
- Able to work independently with an “off-site” supervisor.
- Experienced in public speaking in front of a diverse group of children/youth, parents, and professionals in multiple settings (i.e. classrooms, systems of care, community meetings, school boards, etc.).
- Ability to present prevention information on challenging topics such as substance use, bullying/violence, emotional development, and/or teen pregnancy/STIs using a trauma informed approach.
