Principal Electrochemical Engineer
Job description
PRINCIPAL ELECTROCHEMICAL ENGINEER
Background
OCOchem is a venture-backed green chemical company pioneering and perfecting the process of converting carbon dioxide into the organic platform chemical, formate. Our patented Carbon Flux ElectrolyzerTM device efficiently converts carbon dioxide with electricity to make formate and formic acid. In this energy-dense stable, liquid form, formate can be used to store and move Hydrogen energy in a liquid carrier form or make a wide range of chemicals and materials. We are a team of chemical and electro-chemical engineers with over 100 years of diverse industrial-scale green chemistry and energy industry experience on a mission to converts the world’s most abundant unwanted waste stream into useful products.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a creative and hands-on Principal Electrochemical Engineer with significant electrochemical engineering experience for the development of gas diffusion electrodes, optimization of reactant gas-liquid electrolyte-solid catalyst hydrodynamics in flow cells and its application in cells and cell stacks of pilot scale systems. The ideal candidate will significantly contribute to OCOchem’s next generation electrolyzer development and scale-up for converting carbon dioxide to formate and formic acid. Industrial and/or academic experience in electrochemical CO2 conversion, fuel cells, alkaline electrolysis, is required. If you are enthusiastic and hard-working, with extensive electrochemical experimental/wet lab experience with a strong interest in having an impact on climate change, want to work for a company with tremendous potential from its early stages, OCOchem wants to hear from you.
