Job Description:
In the Embedded Solutions Engineering (ESE/FAE) team at Microchip, there are many technical specialties (Functions) aligned with the common requirements of our clients. As the Human Interface Function Group Leader, you will develop and implement the strategy necessary to ensure that the Human Interface ESE (FAE) specialists around the world have the resources, knowledge, and skills necessary to drive human interface design wins with Microchip’s clients.
Job Responsibilities
  • Be a “Trusted Advisor” on Microchip Touch & Graphics products, solutions, and tools
  • Support key client activity worldwide by working with regional sales, account, and technical managers
  • Develop and drive Human Interface Function Group strategic plans
    • Research relevant market trends, industry standards and new technologies
    • Identify training gaps and facilitate necessary skills development
    • Enable development of technical resources in support of analog technologies (evaluation boards, reference designs, etc.)
    • Drive changes necessary for growth
  • Coordinate group activity with the worldwide sales team, business units, corporate councils, and customers/third parties
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout Microchip
  • Provide “Voice of the Customer” feedback to guide next generation product and collateral development
  • Participate in corporate teams with other technical specialists, marketing, business development and client engagement managers
  • Utilize the Microchip client engagement process to support and drive improvements in human interface design activity
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Expertise with a variety of Human Interface technologies, including:
    • Capacitive physics,
      • including physical sensor design, layout and tuning
    • Touch and Gesture technologies,
      • Touch buttons
      • Touch sliders
      • 3D gesture recognition
      • Touchscreens
      • Trackpads
      • Haptics
    • Graphics,
      • Displays
      • GUI design
  • Use of embedded development environments, software configuration tools and compilers
    • MPLABX IDE or Microchip Studio experience preferred
    • MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC), MPLAB Harmony or ATMEL START preferred
    • MPLAB XC Compilers preferred
  • Ability to analyze and debug human interface systems using simulations, programmers, debuggers, logic analyzers and other industry standard tools
  • Competency with industry standard schematic and layout tools
    • Altium knowledge preferred
  • Ability to articulate the trade-offs of different technical solutions and innovations to relevant stakeholders
  • Able to lead teams using influence and persuasion
  • Experience working with geographically spread teams across multiple time zones
  • Highly organized with the ability to think of both strategic business and tactical technical considerations
  • Manage multiple initiatives, tasks, and customers at the same time
  • Communicate effectively with clients as well as fellow ESEs in person (live presentations and workshops) and virtually (Teams or WebEx meetings)
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Work Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience with embedded touch & graphics development, hardware, and firmware
    • 5+ years as a member of a customer facing sales team (FAE/ESE)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
Other Requirements
  • Position may require international travel quarterly.
  • Occasional early morning or evening work activity may be required to accommodate different time-zones due to the position's global nature.
