Position Overview

KIRO Radio is currently seeking a full time producer for our highly-rated daily news talk shows that inform, engage, and entertain a diverse audience on broadcast, digital, and social platforms.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to sometimes work at our Seattle site.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a consistent, high degree of news accuracy and station branding
  • Find, evaluate, and research news stories daily
  • Recognize, conceptualize, and develop unique angles within daily news stories
  • Help frame, develop, and manage host(s) ideas and opinions
  • Find, record, edit and mix audio on deadline
  • Find and book guests daily
  • Cultivate and maintain a wide range of news resources and contacts
  • Update and engage audience on social media platforms daily

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Well organized and highly attentive to detail
  • Proven ability to handle stress and multi-task
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Expert use of social media tools
  • Familiar with laws on libel and slander and familiar with FCC Rules and Regulations
  • Work in compliance with company policies, procedures, and brand
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Prior experience working in media, preferred
  • Experience using NewsBoss and Adobe Audition, preferred
  • Able to set up ISDN, Comrex, Skype, etc. and help direct technical aspects of the show, preferred
  • Digital video production skills, preferred

Physical Demands

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Compensation Range

$24.04 - $37.80 per hour.

Salary/Hourly rate will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
