Summary

Supervises all facets of production operations including processes and people. Continuously improves operations and ensures a clean, safe workplace. Manages day-to-day planning, operation and problem-solving for departmental tasks to ensure production, quality, and safety requirements are achieved per production schedules. Is supported by a team of direct (team leaders) and indirect (direct labor) assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Understands and demonstrates Safety as the first priority in all activities.

  • Accountable for production operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains standards of health and safety, hygiene, housekeeping, and security in the work environment.
  • Completes production requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; monitors work results and executes corrective actions when required.
  • Maintains production staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees.
  • Monitors staff performance and progress.
  • Motivates, organizes, and encourages at the individual and team levels to ensure set productivity targets are met.
  • Makes sound decisions using facts and data that are in the best interest of Malibu.
  • Holds all individuals, including him/herself, accountable for delivering results and satisfying internal and external customers.
  • Plans and executes changes in support of model changes, capacity and/or schedule modifications.

· Assists in developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks and utilizes them appropriately.

· Addresses any performance related issues of team members including, but not limited to, conflict resolution or dysfunctional behavior and to escalate such when necessary.

  • Maintains/improves productivity, efficiency and performance by reviewing reports and statistics and making appropriate adjustments
  • Recommends measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department including performance of personnel and equipment.
  • Continuously improves production operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
  • Explores options for internal and external activities having impacts on the department and/or business.
  • Understands hazardous materials and the proper and safe handling of such ensuring all proper policies and procedures are followed.
  • Shows initiative, courage, integrity and bases decisions on what is best for the company, not the individual.
  • Identifies and develops team members to be future leaders.
  • Leads by example.
  • Identifies areas for personal growth and seeks opportunities for ongoing education.

· May be requested to assume leadership functions in absence of immediate supervisor

· Other duties may be assigned as required

· Supervisory skills and experience

· Able to execute to a schedule or to, when situations dictate, develop and implement a schedule.

· Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the entire manufacturing process understanding impacts to internal customers.

· Able to read, interpret and execute build instructions from work orders, work instructions, quality documentation, specifications, drawings and other business documents.

· Must be, or be capable of becoming, a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the assigned area.

· Capable of and able to identify quality issues, flaws and/or shortcomings and provide constructive feedback to direct reports in order to correct such.

Education and/or Experience

· Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or, five years of relevant experience; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

· Excellent verbal communicator in both formal and informal settings.

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals; professional journals; technical procedures; governmental regulations; safety rules; work, operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals; schedules; etc., in English

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, electronic mail, procedures, and performance documents, as examples, in English.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and other employees of the organization.

· Ability to effectively conduct meetings in person and with technology assistance.

· Ability to effectively utilize general business computer programs including, but not limited to, MS Office.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to utilize data to make business decisions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
