The Position
The objective of the Project Manager role is to provide support to regional and global project teams in driving advancement, enable governance decision making and systematically enhance effective and efficient team operations across different projects and programs.
As Project Manager, you will be part of a Business Operations in the Roche/ Genentech Pharma Technical Cell and Gene Therapy organization (PTC). This growing organization is working with groups across Roche/Genentech, partners, and contract manufacturing organizations to establish capabilities for new cell and gene therapy products. This Project Manager position will provide organizational support, leadership, project management and business operations expertise to the Roche/Genentech cell and gene therapy (CGT) community.
Areas of focus for this role include providing Project Management Leadership e.g. highly cross-functional PTC initiatives and CGT-related projects or Technical Development Teams responsible for developing and delivering CGT products to clinical trials. The role will also provide business operations expertise to set up business and portfolio management processes and reports.
You will ensure project execution and alignment with the overall business model. The global cell and gene therapy organization is highly matrixed and cross-functional, requiring an individual with outstanding leadership, collaboration, communication, negotiation, facilitation, and influencing skills.
This position reports to the Director of PTC Business Operations (PTCO) located in SSF.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively manage projects: define project objectives, requirements, and assumptions necessary to develop project charter and project plans.
Plan and manage the project scope, schedule, and budget to fulfill objectives and satisfy project requirements and strategy.
Develop, drive and maintain integrated project plans, and timelines aligning project tactics with project strategy.
Lead, coordinate, facilitate, and motivate all associated project resources (including internal, with Partners and CDMOs) to gain alignment on project goals and deliverables.
Lead risk management within project teams, ensuring risks have appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
Facilitate and lead effective project meetings and workshops, manage change and conflict, and develop resource planning estimates to manage project workload and productivity. Create agenda topics and facilitate project/team meetings; write/review meeting minutes.
Implement lean project and portfolio management practices.
Apply strong project management and business operations skills and experience in the creation, maintenance, and improvement of business processes and tools to support the PTC organization.
Support the creation and maintenance of portfolio reports to facilitate communication and alignment across work streams. Support team business processes and tools, ensuring timely updates and driving continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree
5+ years of project management experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry and experience in supporting technical development activities.
Preferences:
Demonstrated excellence in collaboration and teamwork, strong influencing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with others in an active, positive, and constructive manner.
You are an initiative taker, proactive problem solver, and self-motivated to drive the deliverables. Additionally, you have previous experience working with external collaborators and excellent written and verbal skills.
You demonstrate effective communication skills and integrate team members, internal and external partners to achieve team goals.
Ability to work in a dynamic, matrixed team environment and effectively manage change.
Experience working with Partners and Contractor Manufactures across different regions and time zones.
Excellent collaboration systems and g-suite skills (or similar), experience with MS Project or Smartsheet, and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau or Spotfire) are required.
Willingness and ability to cope with global working hours as needed and to travel up to 10% of time.
Additionally, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify, develop and implement business processes enhancements and enable transparent, effective and timely communication of global business processes globally.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of San Francisco, California is 113,500.00 and 210,700.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
