Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Medical Services, the Psychiatric Nurse will provide professional skilled age specific nursing care for consumers in collaboration with the psychiatric provider and other disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide or delegate aspects of patient care.
- Patient assessment, to include identification of physical health needs.
- Routine medical checks of clients weight, height and vital signs prior to being seen by the medical prescriber.
- Referring to primary care provider for further evaluation as needed.
- Medication administration.
- Working with the psychiatric prescriber in monitoring of medications.
- Coordinating and reviewing lab results.
- Coordinating with pharmacies to assist with medication access for consumers.
- Identifying nursing problems.
- Developing plans of care.
- Acting as a consumer advocate and educator.
- Conducts medication education and other wellness groups.
- Attend Staffing as indicated.
- Supervises ancillary personnel as directed.
- Participates in team building and quality improvement activities.
- Receives and returns phone calls to and from caregivers, clients and other relevant providers.
- Provides medication refills when requested from clients, care givers or pharmacies when approved by the medical prescriber and informs client, caregiver or pharmacy of the action taken.
- If indicated, contacts insurance companies for prior authorizations of services or non-formulary prescribed medications.
- Provides services, completes paperwork and maintains records to meet MCO requirements, level of care standards, and agency policy.
- Oversees storage of medications and inventory of samples as per agency policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision.
Non-Physical Requirements:
Education:
- RN Licensure in the state of Washington.
- ADN, BSN or MSN.
- Minimum 1 years experience with direct patient care, disease processes and psychiatric knowledge.
- Electronic Health and EMR Records skills (EHR).
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong family and individual assessment skills.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to conduct home visits.
- Ability to provide service in a culturally competent manner.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Current licensure without any restrictions in the State of Washington.
- Valid Washington State drivers license and agency required minimum liability insurance.
- Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required.
