Job Profile Summary: Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families. Provides psychiatric services to adults to help improve their Mental Health by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions, develops, and implements treatment plans. Allina Health has a robust Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line that offers the full continuum of care including integration, specialty outpatient clinics, addiction and co-occurring services, partial hospitalization and day treatment, and inpatient care. There are more than 290 mental health and addiction clinicians dedicated to the highest quality patient care across 45 primary care clinics, 6 integrated psychiatry locations, 4 hospital-based clinics, 15 partial and day treatment programs, 15 Allina and affiliated Emergency Departments, and 7 hospitals with 270 inpatient beds. The Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line is led by both psychiatry and psychology clinical leadership, in partnership with operations to advance mental health care for patients across Allina Health.
Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care.
    • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
    • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
    • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
    • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
    • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
    • May participate in on-call rotation.

    Provides psychiatric services for the adult population.

    • Provides psychiatric services to a diverse population.
    • Provides direct clinical care in psychiatry, including brief assessments and interventions.
    • Develop behaviorally-focused, outcomes-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, functional impairment, and co-occurring addictive or medical disorders.
    • Engages the patient and family to develop treatment plans that address identified goals.
    • Develops and lead staff education in psychiatric issues.
    • Participates in relevant and ongoing professional training.
    • Consults with providers to assist with ongoing management of the behavioral health needs of their patients.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.

    Quality.

    • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
    • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required and
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Psychiatry or foreign equivalency training required
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire and
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days and
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required board certified in Psychiatry within two years of hire and
  • Licensed Physician - WI upon hire required and
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required and
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required and
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required
