Overview:
This Public Health Program Manager is a member of an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists and public health consultants assisting Florida in reaching its strategic public health goals. This position requires a considerable exercise of independent judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and the ability to perform against high standards of excellence. Candidates will be required to work onsite in Tallahassee, FL.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
- Planning and organizing community outreach efforts to promote public health awareness
- Developing community strategies to prevent disease and promote wellness within a community’s specific needs and demographics
- Evaluating the effectiveness of programs to determine how well they achieved their goals
- Coordinating with other healthcare providers in the community to ensure that all services are available to the public
- Developing policies and procedures for healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Working with legislators to develop new laws or policies that will improve public health outcomes in their community
- Managing budgets for public health programs, projects, and initiatives
- Conducting research on local health issues to identify risk factors and possible solutions
- Providing leadership and guidance to staff members to ensure that programs meet their goals
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
