POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will direct and oversee all planning and purchasing functions for Marathon Equipment. The primary responsibilities of this position include leading all demand, supply, and inventory planning for the Marathon Equipment business. This position will work closely with commercial and operations functions- sales, commodity management, distribution, IT, and engineering.
This is a highly visible position with responsibility to provide results driven leadership to a critical growth business for Marathon Equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Develop and maintain statistical demand plan for Marathon Equipment.
- Define PFEP for Marathon Equipment. This will include MTS/MTO, source, lead time, lot size, ROP, etc.
- Configure supply planning system (JD Edwards) to support PFEP.
- Create, release, review, and approve purchase orders within set guidelines and parameters to ensure orders are delivered according to requirements to support customer expectations.
- Track order status and communicate to appropriate stakeholders. Expedite shipment of orders when required.
- Investigate invoice, order, or receipt discrepancies and monitor delivery dates to ensure on-time delivery. Report issues to management quickly.
- Partner with sales, production control, operations, commodity management and other internal departments to ensure on-time delivery to meet customer expectations.
- Lead and develop purchasing team through performance management and provide continual professional, candid feedback to team members while continuously improving processes and procedures.
- Establish and track meaningful departmental reports / measurements on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis that provide world-class purchasing performance and communicate out to the organization.
- Report out status daily on any purchasing related issue impacting production and drive corrective action and resolution of purchasing issues.
- Ensure all associated purchase data is updated and maintained timely in all systems.
- Manage all departmental functions such that goals and objectives are consistently achieved.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the department.
- Escalate issues to the appropriate internal department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Materials Management / Purchasing or equivalent experience is required.
- MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of related experience in demand planning, buying, production and materials planning, inventory control and related areas in a manufacturing environment required.
- Strong lean background preferred.
- Working knowledge of MRP and best practices for purchasing.
- Thorough knowledge of JDE or other similar ERP systems experience preferred.
- CPM and/or APICS certification preferred.
- Microsoft Office experience required – including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to include good communication, time management, and problem solving.
- Ability to objectively coach employees through complex and difficult issues.
