General Summary

Conduct inspections and tests to guarantee that safe and quality products are being produced.

Execute lab tests and enter outcomes into database.

Support Food Safety Programs, efforts and QA Manager and division.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect ingredient samples for testing, conduct experiments and report any results out of standard.

• Enter results of product assessments and production inspections into the computer database, utilizing Micro-soft Excel;

analyse the data using graphs, charts and statistics, report trends to the QA Manager.

• Conduct laboratory tests utilizing equipment (but not limited to) like weight scales, measurement tools, pH meters,

moisture meters, Near Infrared Analyzer, and water activity meter. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.

• Perform line process verifications for compliance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

• Conduct process reviews and line checks to make sure the manufacturing process is in line with customer

specifications.

• Analyze and document line inspections for agreement with standard operating procedures. (Checking of

appropriate product, accurate formulation, documentation of ingredient lot numbers, confirmation of accurate code date.)

• Sample product, learn how to prepare samples and undertake bake tests of our products, and report a finished

product assessment. (Learn the process on how to "slack out" a frozen bagel for baking.)

• Verify production sheets are complete and accurate.

• Help in training production staff on properly carrying out tests or item sampling.

• Place non-conforming product on QA Hold.

• Execute Hazard Analysis Critical Control line verifications.

• Participate in plant self-inspections auditing Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Perform scheduled scale, thermometer calibration, & chemical titration checks.

• Work in a secure way.

• Must be able to efficiently communicate issues and concerns regarding product quality or safety to managers

through written and verbal communication.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Six (6) months bakery or factory process control required.

Special Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

• Able to read, write and speak English.

• Capacity to communicate in Spanish a plus.

• Capability to demonstrate knowledge of the basic use of computer software.

• Data entry.

• Capability to perform analytical testing is also a plus.

• Good observational abilities a must.

• Focus to detail a must.

• Competency in mathematics a must.
