The Quality Engineer will perform variety of quality assurance duties including review of inspection lot files and customer sales orders to create Quality Assurance Data packages for customers and management of internal inspection nonconformities. Work with other Quality Engineers to ensure local procedures are up to date and support observations and self-assessments to ensure conformance with established QA plans, policies and procedures at Westinghouse Parts Business in New Stanton

Your Day to Day:
  • Support implementation of business unit and departmental QA plans/programs according to current U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. Implement policies on scope and retention requirements of quality assurance documentation. Update/create site level (Level 3) quality system procedures to support the inspection, calibration and production processes.
  • Review inspection lot files and customer sales orders to create Certificate of Conformance for outgoing products.
  • Manage the Quality Notification (Internal inspection nonconformances)
  • Assist higher level QA personnel during external audits conducted by customers, government agencies, etc.
  • Support various aspects of the site QA program including calibration, training, document preparation, self-assessment, corrective action program as assigned. Communicate changes in business unit and departmental QA plans/programs and conduct ongoing education, orientation, training and certification programs for appropriate personnel.
  • Provide input into work requests/sales order/quotations as necessary to ensure capabilities
  • Identify and direct approach for successful resolution of product quality issues
  • Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency and maintenance information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure effectiveness of QA programs.
  • Provide technical descriptive and cost input to bid proposals for QA services and training.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent with a technical field of study
  • 0 - 3 years of professional experience
  • Apply analytical techniques to identify deviations, provide trend data, and suggest recommended solutions requires excellent problem-solving skills and creativity.
  • Select various alternatives to produce useful data which will suggest resolutions to various QA problems.
  • Oral and written communication skills to explain QA policies and procedures and communicate audit findings to suppliers and licensees.
  • Explains QA policies and procedures to internal personnel and external customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and licensees relative to Westinghouse quality related products and services.
  • Need to gain cooperation and build relationships is important.
  • Presentation skills are required to provide information to influence desired outcome.
