We are have a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Quality Manager in St. Paul!
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000K DOE
A successful applicant will have a background in quality management in a manufacturing environment, and will be great at making substantial changes to improve quality performance. Must be outgoing, collaborative, organized, hands-on, have a strong desire to learn, a self-starter and confident in ability to drive changes with diplomacy. This person will be responsible for supervising and proactively leading the operation of the quality department to ensure customer satisfaction.
This position requires a unique blend of technical savvy, strategic planning expertise and the ability to change people’s thought processes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Create and implement a natural culture of quality that is woven into the manufacturing process.
- Identify errors and inefficiencies in the process, then lead the change to resolve.
- Identify quality continuous improvement initiatives and present business case proposals
- Collaborate with other departments to create the best flow of quality streams.
- Implement and communicate metrics to drive improvements to goals.
- Actively serve as a proactive leader and natural mentor to staff. Communication and feedback a must.
- Provide leadership to sustain a quality philosophy and lean culture throughout the company.
- Improve product and service quality through ISO 9001 compliance, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, and quality at the source.
- Develop and maintain standardized work instructions for the quality department
- Manage corrective/preventative action data - assist team with actions to resolve nonconformities
- Compile nonconformance trend analysis reports and drive root cause resolution.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Engineering to drive incoming quality and optimum designs.
- Liaison between customer and supplier quality representatives
- Single point, proactive customer interface on quality related issues
ISO 9001 Compliance
- ISO audit point person and project manager
- Owner of Quality Manual, refinements and compliance of process in the shop flow.
- Manage, update and distribute quality system documentation to meet ISO 9001 requirements
- Continuously improve the effectiveness of the quality system
- Lead initiatives for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits
- Report audit activities and results, perform comprehensive follow up of corrective action requests
- Report the status of quality indicators such as the cost of quality, scrap costs, TQM survey results, etc.
Required Skills:
- Successful supervisor experience required
- Must be able to create a plan to improve and drive to completion across departments.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills
- Proficient at figuring out new computer systems
- Must be organized and efficient
- Must be able to multi-task, stay professional and calm in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001 International Standard Requirements for Quality Management Systems
- Advanced print reading skills include GD&T
- Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and scientific literature. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree
- +5 years in manufacturing environment in a leading quality role
- CMM (FARO) programming experience, preferably Polyworks Software
