Job purpose

SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising, monitoring and improving facility quality assurance, performance improvement, corporate compliance, and risk management relating to services provided by SPIRILIFE. Reports on a regular basis to the SPIRITLIFE executive team on issues and solutions relating to the programs’ implementation and non-compliance in order to improve overall quality.

This position has broad responsibility to protect the agency’s assets from loss and is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. The structure and functions of the risk management program/plan are designed to comply with guidelines and standards of ASAM, other regulatory agencies, vendor contracts etc.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage clinical information systems for accurate collection processing and validating of information used. Monitor/evaluate patient care and effectiveness of health care delivery.
  • Establishes and implements all policies and objectives of the agency relative to Quality Assessment and Improvement to ensure safety, quality and compliance.
  • Acts a SPIRITLIFE’s primary liaison to the executive team on issues related to CQI.
  • Develops and implements policy and/or procedures changes related to establishing compliance with performance standards of ASAM, Department of licensing and other regulatory bodies.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate policies and procedures for collecting, processing reporting and validating clinical information.
  • Monitor adherence and compliance to policies & procedures and any other contract or regulatory requirements,
  • In collaboration with other departments plan and conduct in-service and mandatory training programs relative to corporate compliance, risk management performance improvement system, confidentiality and legal aspects for staff in other departments, including orientation of the staff.
  • Identifies potential risk exposures associated with clinical and organizational systems within the programs through risk assessment, communication with all staff.
  • Monitor and analyzes trends/events/occurrences and identifies patterns.
  • Develops annual risk management plan for facility based on objective evaluation of historical concurrent liability exposures and trending data.
  • Provides specific trending reports to appropriate committees/departments.
  • Assist department to identify and investigate problems, determine actions as necessary and prepares analysis of reports.
  • Ensures the development and delivery of development & training for staff to ensure knowledge, skills and abilities to deliver, quality state of the art services.
  • Supervises and evaluates activities of the compliance and quality improvement team, including the compliance officer and the QI administrative manager.
  • Maintain ethical standards and continued professional growth, including:

a. Abide by Program and SPIRITLIFE’s policy and procedures. Oversees staff understanding and compliance.

b. Ensure all ASAM standards are instituted and maintained

c. Promotes, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of SPIRITLIFE’s staff.

d. Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff

e. Maintain current licensure/certification including CES, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management.

f. Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients.

g. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field, Licensed preferred.
  • 5 years employment experience in a substance abuse program working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare data management and analysis.
  • Certification as addiction counselor a plus

Knowledge and Skills

· Knowledge of various substance abuse treatment modalities; knowledge of issues collateral to substance abuse (AIDS, Dual Diagnosis); ability to train and supervise staff, and knowledgeable about Pennsylvania licensure and Human Rights requirements.

· Prior management experience essential; demonstrated ability to perform under pressure

· Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

· Familiarity with the 12-step approach

· Experience working with diverse population

· Experience working in hospital or medical settings

· Experience working with commercial insurance carriers

· Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation

· Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality
