Job Summary
Provides support for the Receiving & Mail Services department by receiving, checking/verifying, handling, sorting, logging, and delivering mail and shipments to the University; and assists with the training and supervision of student workers.
- Receives shipments (packages, mail, overnight deliveries, perishables, etc.) to campus from vendors and USPS utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
- Sorts and stages all received shipments, including inter-office mail, and packages from other Support Services departments, in preparation for centralized delivery.
- Helps deliver shipments to campus departments on and off campus.
- Assists Receiving & Mail Services customers with shipments to and from campus as they walk in, call or email.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of methods, practices and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing and shipping of materials and mail. Ability to keep receiving, shipping and inventory records; rapidly learn and apply CSU procurement practices, procedures and materials specifications; plan and oversee the work of others; forecast supply needs of routine items; prepare simple reports; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; make mathematical calculations; and, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with suppliers, CSU employees and others.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience
- Equivalent to two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse in the performance of work involving the receipt, storage, and issuance of a variety of supplies, material, and equipment required.
Licenses / Certificates

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- Target salary: $40,056/year.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,338 – $5,311/month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
