**THIS ROLE IS LOCATED ALONG THE OREGON COAST **

We are hiring IMMEDIATELY for a Peer Support Specialist to join one of our community mental health providers!

Summary:

We are seeks full-time Peer Support Specialist - Mental Health, working within an agency team, assisting individuals in providing recovery and support services to agency consumers under supervision of the Clinical Director and the ACT Team Supervisor. The Peer Support Specialist draws on their own personal experiences to motivate and assist clients to act on their own behalf and to support their own self-directed recovery.

Additionally, the Peer Support Specialist provides practical help, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, one-on-one individual support, coaching, problem solving and direct assistance, as needed. You will also coordinate the Supported Housing Program in collaboration with CARE, manage administrative tasks and documentation pertaining to that program. Possess the ability to promote and model self-advocacy and independent living skills for clients, individually and in group settings. Position also includes limited on-call crisis rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan, to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their mental health, developing perspectives and skills that promote recovery.
  • Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, one-on-one individualized support, coaching, problem solving and direct assistance, as needed. Assist clients in developing and using natural supports, including but not limited to community self-help groups.
  • Promote and model self-advocacy and independent living skills for clients, individually and in group settings.
  • Share own experiences in appropriate ways, keeping boundaries and forming appropriate paraprofessional relationships with clients.
  • Document client progress in agency’s Electronic Medical Record in a professional and timely manner.
  • Meet regularly with clinical supervisor and/or ACT Supervisor to review job activities, expectations, client progress and concerns.
  • Attend agency meetings, as required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Self Identifies as a recipient of mental health services who embraces the philosophy of resilience and recovery
  • IF QUALIFICATIONS OF PERSONAL RECOVERY EXPERIENCE ARE MET THEN:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain (within 2 months of hire) Oregon Peer Recovery Mentor Certification

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bilingual - Spanish
  • Experience with electronic medical system

  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Computer skills and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary team and maintain role clarity

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $49,000.00 per year
