The City of Bryan Parks & Recreation Department is currently hiring for Recreation Instructor/Coach. We are seeking people with various skill sets such as arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, academics, technology, games, sports, fitness, cooking/baking, etc.

Work Schedule
Approximately 15-20/week
Flexible days & times available
Monday-Friday between 3pm-9pm
Sat & Sun hours vary
Approximately early-June to end-July

Hiring Pay Rate
$12.00/hour

Job Summary
Responsible for planning and organizing and conducting instructional lessons for classes in assigned recreational program areas for the City of Bryan Parks & Recreation Department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans and conducts recreation programs such as arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, academics, technology, games, sports, fitness, cooking/baking, and various other recreational, educational, and cultural enrichment areas.
  • Sets up the equipment needed for activities and issues and collects materials as needed.
  • Encourages participation and proper conduct of all program participants.
  • Monitors program participants throughout instruction and ensures adherence to safety practices and department and facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Follows appropriate emergency procedures to protect the well-being of the participants.
  • Reports any safety or disciplinary concerns to management.
  • Provides a safe, clean, and sanitary facility for program participants.
  • Performs record-keeping duties such as compiling program data, attendance, etc. as needed.
  • Promotes Parks and Recreation programs to participants, guests, and the general public.
  • Acts as a role model to program participants and other staff by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.
  • Problem-solves through situations and seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Maintains positive public relations with those encountered through the program.
  • Responds quickly to all emergency situations; administers any emergency first aid as needed.
  • Reports for duty at the times specified and ensures a high standard of personal presentation and appearance is maintained per policy.
  • Attends mandatory training, orientations, and other staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Adheres to the policies, rules, regulations, and procedures of the City of Bryan and the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience in a skill area in which instruction is to be given.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a teacher, tutor, counselor, or coach in an organized recreational program
