Registered Behavior Technician

Ignited Minds is looking for energetic and playful individuals who love to learn and work with children. A Register Behavior Technician (RBT) at Ignited is someone who works with an ASD population of children under direct supervision of a BCBA. Your challenge is to implement programs and take data, while having fun and making laughter flow. We are a small clinic on a mission to do what is best for the client within the repertoire of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the application of the science of behavior to help develop communication, social and adaptive skills as well as behavior reduction based on the individual’s needs and environment.

In our clinic, we enjoy group morning meeting everyday at 11:15, as well as daily crafts in the afternoon in our NET room. We love to swing in the gross room, or take a reading break in the crash room. Oh, and our a-maze-ing hallways make a stellar obstacle course. Our clinic setting allows for opportunities of social play between clients and a support team at all times just a few feet away. We have a staff training once a month, as well as on-going training. We are very learning-focused, as there is always more to learn about behavior.

Ignited Minds Rundown:

• The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:30pm and is a multiple room facility including a gross motor room, sensory room, de-escalation room, offices and technician break room.
• We have acquired the offices next to our current clinic to expand and have a section of the clinic for ages 12-18.
• Direct services are all in clinic, although assessment and parent trainings may occur in the home based by the BCBA.
• All technicians are certified through the BACB prior to providing direct care.
• Session schedules are based on client needs and availability.
• RBT schedules are based on the RBT’s set weekly availability along with client needs.
• Full time is 32+ hours, and RBTs with full availability are usually between 33-36 hours.
• Monthly staff occurs on the third Tuesday of every month
• The clinic is open for hours on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month on a volunteer basis to make up for client sick days or vacations. This allows the technician to gain extra hours if they choose.

The role of RBT does require a certification, but a certification is very attainable. If you would like to become an RBT, the first step is to complete the free online 40-hour course provided by the Autism foundation: https://autismpartnershipfoundation.org/courses/rbt/

Once you have completed the course, you can email tim.henson @ ignitedaba.com and Ignited Minds will help you complete your competency test in our clinic. The last step would then be to pass the RBT test. The total cost is approximately $85, and we are more than willing to support your efforts to obtain certification and on-going training at a Registered Behavior Technician.
