Healthcare Academy of SWVA (a division of Senior Home Share) is seeking an RN for our CNA instructor position in the evenings. The CNA Instructor provides the required education to Nurse Aides students preparing for them to become Certified Nursing Assistants.

• Must have held an active RN license for a minimum of 2 - 4 years with experice working in a clinical setting
• Must complete a train the trainer course to instruct CNA courses
• BLS/CPR Train the Trainer preferred but not required
• Teaching experience preferred

Responsibities Include:

• Requires expert knowledge of basic nursing skills and a desire to pass that knowledge on to others.
• Responsible for assisting students in developing an understanding of values, attitudes and ideals appropriate to the health care profession.
• Orients students to the clinical area, and demonstrates proper procedures.
• Leads discussions and elicits information from students which demonstrates that students are learning and accomplishing clinical objectives.
• Maintains clinical standards and course expectations throughout each course.
• Deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles.
• Evaluates and grades student performance. Meets with students for formal evaluation throughout and at the end of the course to discuss progress and performance.
• Provide guidance and advice to students as regarding course progress, program areas, or other academic concerns.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and staff members to integrate instructional activities and materials as well as communicating with community partners in regards to students and student needs
