To serve as the assistant to the Rehabilitation Services Director.

Supervision Received:
Administrative direction from the Rehabilitation Services Director.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct line over Rehabilitation Bureau Administrators.
Location of Work:
May be used by state agencies with rehabilitation counseling functions.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Rehabilitation Services Director by lack of final responsibility for the organization.
Differs from Rehabilitation Bureau Administrator by providing statewide administrative direction and control of all programs and subprograms which includes the general rehabilitation program as well as the blind rehabilitation program.
Serves as the assistant to and acts in the absence of the Rehabilitation Services Director.
Assists the Rehabilitation Services Director in planning and directing the development and implementation of comprehensive statewide programs for providing services to clientele.
Analyzes program objectives and directs operation of all bureaus within the organization to include staff services, client services, special projects, training and fiscal operations.
Directs the development and recommends changes in existing programs and/or procedures to ensure that implementation and operation of organizational programs are consistent with federal, state, departmental and internal guidelines, policies and objectives.
Confers with federal, state and local government officials, legislative committees, medical professionals, advocacy groups and community leaders to explain the organization and its policies and to promote the philosophy of rehabilitation.
Directs a variety of complex studies and makes recommendations to the Director regarding innovative rehabilitation technology, philosophy and procedures.
Represents the organization at meetings with both public and private entities.
Develops final budget recommendations and program justification for the Director's approval.
