This position is 100% remote. We will only consider remote applicants residing in the following US states – AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, NC, PA, RI, SC, VA, WV, and WI.

Position Summary

The Patient Financial Services - Customer Service Representative is responsible for all aspects of customer service, walk in patient inquiries and incoming customer phone calls.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in healthcare billing/collections, medical office and/or customer service.
  • Familiar with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD9/10 codes.
  • Good Understanding of insurance remittance and remark codes
  • Excellent customer service skills

License/Registration/Certifications

  • N/A

Preferred Experience

  • Customer service experience in a hospital or physician billing setting.
  • Good understanding of insurance explanation of benefits and how it applies to the patient’s accounts.
  • Experience handling high volumes of calls per day.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Counseling the customer on their account balance and collecting payments on outstanding account balances.
  • Account research to ensure accurate billing and payment posting.
  • Completing and/or processing patient payments for account posting.
  • Processing patient letters and other correspondence received in the department for appropriate action.
  • Responsible for all vendor return reports and appropriate distribution of accounts for resolution.
  • Exhibit professionalism and excellent customer service at all times
  • Responsible for practicing AIDET in all customer-related encounters
  • Successfully assist all customers with inquiries, follow up on all customer requests and ensure good quality customer service and resolution
  • Responsible for handling a high volume of calls and customer service requests.
  • Ensure resolution is obtained for all customer needs/requests
  • Other duties as assigned.
