Job Summary
Chou lab ( https://www.tfchoulab.org/research ) at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena is seeking Research Technician to provide support to chemical biology and proteomics projects .
The successful candidate will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and will work closely with our research group to develop small molecule and protein drugs for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Interested individuals should demonstrate advanced technical skills in small volume biological sample handling, bench experimentation, and a willingness to learn advanced techniques in biochemical and proteomic analysis. Candidates should be eager to work cooperatively within a fast-paced team environment and enjoy critical thinking and creative problem solving.
Essential Job Duties
- Cell culture for growing cancer cell lines and assay anti-cancer compounds using the established protocols.
- Protein overexpression and purifications in both E. Coli and mammalian cells.
- Maintain and coordinate use of laboratory equipment and prepare laboratory stocks, buffers etc.
- Implement and maintain appropriate lab practices and infrastructure.
- Consult PI and other lab members to refine and adapt methodology to fit evolving research requirements and experimental parameters.
- Work weekends as needed in order to maintain essential instruments and iPS cell works.
Basic Qualifications
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent laboratory skills.
- Ability to work weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or BA in molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics or equivalent
