Mainstay Supportive Housing and Home Care, Inc. provides human service and housing programs across Massachusetts, including permanent supportive housing and compassionate, person-centered home care. Our programs have helped hundreds of people live productive and stable lives in their own communities every day for all of these years. Mainstay was founded in 1975 to provide services to people with mental illness, and our mandate has since expanded to cover a variety of vulnerable populations, including low-income elders; people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities; and the recently homeless.
We are seeking a kind, friendly, caring and dependable candidate to work Per Diem as a Resident Specialist. The position provided 1-hour blocks of 1:1 care for up to 8 residents in Norwood, MA. We have weekday and weekend shifts available. Residents have Mental Health support needs and sometimes physical/intellectual disabilities. 1:1 care duty is provided in the clients apartment.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have fun, upbeat, genuine interactions with the residents, staff team, property management team and family members.
- Provide companionship to the Resident, doing something mindful and fun, recreational during daily visits.
- Coach residents in completing Activities of Daily Living including medication reminders, personal hygiene, making meals and housekeeping.
- Maintain daily service logs and track progress of the residents care plan goals.
- Prepare dinner for/with Resident and follow correct dietary plan.
- Report any health or behavioral status changes of the Resident to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- 1- 3 years experience working with individuals with disabilities in a residential setting, preferred, but not required.
- valid drivers license with reliable transportation.
- CPR and First Aid certifications (or ability to pass within the first 30 days of employment).
- Proof of Covid Vaccination
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software and receive and send electronic mail.

- Share your ideas, opinions, and thoughts when appropriate
- Ability to use good judgement for all your decisions and keep appropriate matters confidential.
