The Respiratory Care Department Manager oversees the daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department. The Respiratory Care Department Manager manages all aspects of patient care, staffing, equipment operation, and workflow. The manager directs the activities of professional and ancillary staff in the delivery of respiratory therapy care for the department; plans, implements and evaluates delivery of patient care; manages by giving direction to the development and evaluation of all personnel; maintains the operations aspects of the department; interprets and implements policies and procedures of the Respiratory Department and the Hospital. Assumes full patient care responsibilities, leading by example. Maintains accountability and responsibility on a 24-hour basis for the safe and therapeutic delivery of care by all levels of staff to patients in concert with established departmental and hospital goals and objectives.

The Respiratory Care Department Manager assists with the formation of the budgets, assists in the strategic planning of the department and tactical implementation of equipment acquisitions, hospital and departmental goals and department initiatives. The Manager performs all activities in adherence with Federal, State, Local, and Hospital regulations and in conjunction with tenets of various regulatory agencies.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Degree from an approved School of Respiratory Therapy, or waivered training.
  • Licensed and currently registered as a professional respiratory therapist in Mass.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years practical experience in respiratory therapy; competent in the care of infant, child, adolescent, adult and older patients required
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Coordinator or Supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations; and possesses good oral and written communication skills.
