We are looking for passionate and caring Gastroenterology/Infusion Registered Nurses to join our team of skilled professionals and provide health care services to our veterans and their families at Fort Carson Army Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

WORK SCHEDULE:
- Full-time, day shift. May consist of 8 hour or 10 hour shifts
- No nights, no weekends no on-call
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
· Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
· Accountable for making patient appointments and follow up.
· Assesses patient needs telephonically and/or in person.
· Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
· Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
· Excellent oral communication skills for patient/family education and telephone triage of patients. Telephone and in-person assessment/evaluation includes the determination of optimal time and location for patient management (ER, clinic, homecare) and follow-up care as required.
· Prescribes and communicates treatment plans and patient teaching in accordance with established protocols. Collects and assesses significant patient history information and performs all necessary patient teaching.
· Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity, including telephone contacts, in accordance with requirements.
· Makes referral appointments and arranges provider scheduling (in coordination) as appropriate. In addition to managing clinic schedules, HCW may be required to manage surgical schedules.
· Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other clinic specific equipment.
· Performs minor procedures (i.e.,ECGs, ear irrigation, eye exams, hearing tests, etc.); initiates IV therapy; administers immunizations in accordance with specific provider orders and/or established protocols; collects specimens and cultures; performs lab procedures and reports results; assures appropriate environment for patients and their visitors; schedules tests as needed; transports patients to procedures, not limited to, (i.e., MRI, CT SCAN, Radiology) in accordance with established protocols.
· Ensures proper documentation of procedures/treatments within the prescribed timeframes.
· Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
· Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed. Ensures medication/supplies are replenished.
· Participates in newcomer’s orientation and completes all annual training requirements.
· Demonstrates competency in specific administration of oxygen, medications, IV fluids, and other interventions/ treatments. Administers conscious sedation. Observes patient’s vital signs, condition, and response to treatment. Communicates the patient’s response to interventions to both medical providers and supervisory nursing personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a National League of Nursing (NLN) or from an American Academy College of Nursing accredited college. A nursing program from a college/ University accredited by the national nursing accreditation agencies of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Hold a current, active, full and unrestricted Registered Nurses (RN) licensed in a nurse compact state license or Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) or have a license from any United States jurisdiction.
- Hold a national or state nursing license that is valid and current with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions. License must be unencumbered and remain in effect during contract employment.
- Must have at least 24 months of RN experience within the last 48 months in a primary care clinic setting.
- Infusion experience required.
- Must have a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate from the American Red Cross, advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). These certifications must be current at all times.

Pay: $33.50 - $37.91 per hour
