Job description
This is responsible technical and professional instructional work in planning, developing, organizing, and conducting various safety and training programs for the Parks & Recreation Department. Work includes the evaluation, development, and implementation of specialized training programs; review of potential safety and training assistance and curriculum from outside subject matter specialists; risk management and assessment; maintenance of comprehensive records; and review and preparation of correspondence and reports related to safety and training activities. An employee in this class must be knowledgeable in various department activities and specialized equipment to be able to determine safety and training needs for employee success and mitigation of risk. This position works closely with the employees in the field to develop training programs based on current trends and immediate needs while assisting with employee development.
Salary: $55,682 - $88,774

To QualifyMinimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Be able to design, organize and conduct safety and training programs to meet employee development needs and effectively evaluate program results.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage teams in results driven initiatives.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including developing and presenting instructional, informational, and training presentations to large groups.
- Be proficient in the use of a computer, including Microsoft Office, Oracle, Kronos, and ActiveNet.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess a valid Bachelor’s degree with major course work in education, personnel, business, public administration, or a related field.
- Have considerable experience in organizational and instructional phases of employee development, and safety and training programs.
- Have risk management experience.
- Have considerable knowledge of various operational phases of Parks and Recreation, and City administrative and personnel management principles and practices.
- Have experience with GIS software to assist with analyzing trends, maps, and data.
