Position Summary
The purpose of the Service Center Safety Specialist is to provide program and technical assistance to improve the respective health and safety performance and compliance systems at AGS Service Centers. This individual works principally with our Corporate SH&E, Regional Managers and Service Center Managers to deliver an employee safety culture of zero harm, reduce operational risks, and provide a safe work environment for all employees. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure and influence across the organization to grow and develop in the SH&E field.
Key Responsibilities
- Support AGS serviced centers in their efforts to implement OBE Safety, Health and Environment Programs.
- Work with Corporate SH&E and Service Center Managers to develop and implement a consistent safety framework for Service Centers.
- Assist with assessments, surveys and program evaluations to identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with all applicable OBE SH&E programs.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and development of corrective action plans.
- Meet regularly with Service Center Managers to discuss the status of corrective action plans.
- Work with Service Centers to develop a recordkeeping system to track safety training and other safety related documentation.
- Work with Corporate SH&E to provide Service Centers support in using Riskonnect (OBE incident reporting and tracking system).
- Assist Corporate SH&E in developing safety training applicable to Service Center operations.
- Provide support and assistance in the preparation, compilation and distribution of safety reports as needed.
- Develop a Service Center Best Practice Team to standardize LOTO, JSA, Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, etc programs throughout Service Center facilities.
- Providing technical support for site SHE programs including, but not limited to fall protection, LOTO, machine guarding, power vehicles, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed for Success
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field
- 1-2 years of safety experience in manufacturing/fabrication environment
- Ability to travel within the region to support local site needs, program development/implementation, improvement projects and audit activities – up to 40%
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively across the organization; demonstrated coaching skills.
