Reporting into the General Manager, the Safety Supervisor will provide leadership, coordination and technical expertise in all areas of safety, health, and industrial hygiene compliance to achieve operational excellence in the Distribution center. This position will have the accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance and nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities and in which every associate assumes accountability for safety initiatives and expectations. The Safety Supervisor also ensures the facility is following OSHA regulatory expectations in addition to business and company guidelines and initiatives.


Job Description


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, administer, and monitor compliance to all required OSHA programs (confined space, monthly safety meetings, lockout/tagout, SDS, hot work, hoist & crane, forklift, etc.)
  • Maintain programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate associate’s injuries, including OSHA 300 logs.
  • Conduct trend analysis, audits, accident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct safety orientation training for all new hires to assure they are adequately trained on our safety program, policies, proper PPE, hazardous communication, job-specific requirements (Forklift, Lockout/Tagout, etc.) prior to starting in their respective departments.
  • Provide corrective action assistance in response to government complaints or inspections.
  • Report on accidents, investigation findings, and trends to site managers and supervisors.
  • Maintain and update site emergency response plan.
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe operation of equipment.
  • Advise leadership team on safety compliance concerns and required preventative actions.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Inspect working conditions to ensure all activities are compliant with company and regulatory standards.
  • Create and maintain a culture of safety.
  • Develop and administer the Accident Investigation program coordinating all Injury/Incident reviews, leading action plans and root cause analysis to include resolution in partnership with management.

Qualifications


EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • 4+ years health & safety experience in a Distribution, Fulfillment, manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Certifications in OSHA, Hazmat, and other related areas
  • Understands safety processes with ability to complete an internal audit/review
  • Experience in leading and/or participating in safety Incident Investigations
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training including but not limited to Forklift, Ergonomics, and other processes of the like.
  • Project management skills to include strong leadership with the ability to develop and implement safety processes
  • Strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style
  • Proactive, assertive and ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of health & safety software programs
  • High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in an automated Distribution or Fulfillment center a plus


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Regularly lift, move, and place up to 25 pounds of inventory and/or advertising displays as needed.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures
