Job Title: Cleaner

Reports To: Principal or designee

Supervises: N/A

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: High school diploma preferred. Experience in custodial tasks preferred. Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Language Skills: Ability to follow detailed instructions in verbal or written form. Ability to communicate via radio. Ability to read and follow guidelines, policies and procedures related to the position.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to mix chemicals (ratio and measurements) as prescribed or labeled.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions.

Other Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to operate and make repairs on equipment and use hand tools. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Ability to multi-task. Ability to clean and sanitize bio-human spills.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, reach, bend, stoop, climb ladders up to six (6) foot and operate machinery, custodial equipment and hand tools. Ability to stand on feet the majority of a shift. Close vision is required. Ability to work with and mix cleaning solvents and chemicals. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment: Outdoor, as well as, indoor work. Above or below average temperatures. The noise level is moderate to loud. Work near and with moving equipment, machinery, cleaning solvents and chemicals. Work near and around students.

Job Goal: To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn and work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Keep buildings and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, and outdoor areas) neat and clean to include removing trash or human bio spills, at all times.

2. Maintains building in good working order and attractive and clean and correct and/or report any safety hazard to the principal or designee.

3. Opens, inspects, closes, and secures building each school day and for special events and assures electricity is off as designated. Reports any damage to property to lead custodian.

4. Remains on premises during school hours and non-school hours when building is authorized for use as assigned by the principal or designee.

5. Assures open and proper functions of all exit doors/panic bolts during building occupancy and reports any issues to the principal or designee.

6. Removes all trash from building and disposes properly.

7. Performs all duties related to cleaning rooms, corridors, toilets and other areas as directed by principal or designee.

8. Washes windows inside and out as needed or directed.

9. Maintains all floor areas in clean attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.

10. Attends training and takes part in all drills.

11. Abides by and facilitates adherence to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; maintains professional ethical standards; maintains high level of professional development/knowledge.

12. Performs other such duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee within the limits of the Master Contract.

Salary: As determined by OESP contract.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy and State laws.

Terms of Service: Nine, ten or twelve months

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.16 per hour
