You will create and maintain a climate of health and well-being at the school site, by working with students, staff, parents and various health service organizations; provide first aid to students and school staff; make and maintain necessary documentation and reports; and work with administrators and teachers in implementing the District health program. You get a chance to share our vision of impacting a quality education for every student every day!ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers first aid to injured students and provides short-term care to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students Administers and records medications in accordance with District policy. Takes and records vital signs. Administers vision screenings and other screenings, as directed. Maintains computerized listings of immunizations, chronic health conditions, daily visits and health screenings for each student.
Completes state reports on immunization and vision screenings. Files monthly health report. Reports observations to the Principaland/or Child Protective Services, when appropriate Provides social services information and referrals, as necessary May be required to perform specialized procedures, after proper training, such as urinary catheterization, gastric tube feedings, diabetes management, and seizure disorder management Facilitates sending ill or injured students home or to appropriate facilities Responsible for writing and filing employee accident forms May attend, or chair, site's safety committee. May also represent the site at District safety meetings Maintains a clean, organized health office Exhibits patience, courtesy and tact when dealing with students, parents and the community Exhibits empathy when caring for disabled persons and injured/ill students Promotes and supports district wide educational advancement in 21st Century skills Integrates knowledge and skills that are relevant to the 21st Century Performs other related duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a fully accredited school for registered nursing required.
Previous experience in a health office or doctor's office is preferred. Bilingual preferred. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Standard practices and methods of first aid and practical health care. Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work. Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
Business math concepts. Filing and record-keeping principles. Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices. Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations. Customer service principles. Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Modern office technology.
Skilled in: Organizing tasks and meeting deadlines. Following directions and meeting standards. Providing attention to detail in assignments. Proofreading and error correction.
Business math computations. Organizing and maintaining records and files. Maintaining and updating data and documentation. Comprehending reference books and manuals.
Composing and maintaining basic original documents including reports, education materials, and correspondence. Operating assigned tools and equipment. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards. Providing customer service.
Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Maintaining confidentiality. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
