Since 1899, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been changing lives and building communities while serving our neighbors in need with mercy and compassion. We currently sponsor more than 160 programs and services for children and youth, adults and seniors, persons with developmental disabilities, those who are mentally ill, and the isolated.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

The Security Guard is responsible for welcoming all employees and guests to the Corporate Office of Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens. As a member of the Building Services Team, the individual will ensure the safety and security of the front lobby and will work as part of an overall building services team to ensure that employees and guests to the building have a safe and professional environment to work in. The position will also assist as a member of the building’s Fire Brigade.

Qualifications

• High School or GED preferred, but may be waived for 5 years related experience
• Three years security experience in professional environment.
• Customer service oriented.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
• Knowledge of portable fire extinguishers and their locations.
• Knowledge of the geography of the site to which assigned.
• Skill in operating portable radio devices.
• Ability to comprehend numerous policies, procedures, concepts and to be able to respond using discretion and interpretive judgment based on general and specific policies.
• Ability to retain knowledge, information, and directions on an ongoing basis and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations, de-escalate crisis.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing (including computer)
• Ability to work in multicultural, multi-lingual environment.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
