Senior Accountant

This role works closely with the Financial Controller to complete various month-end and operations review processes. This position gathers relevant data and analyzes production costs on a routine basis to identify and track KPIs as well as provide feedback and recommendations to various members of the company. The Accounting Manager manages the Accounting pillars with the Finance and Accounting team, which includes routine one-on-ones with team members, establishing and monitoring annual goals, and providing day-to-day support as needed.

This position must conform to all corporate policies and procedures, uphold ethical standards, and exemplify corporate values, with an emphasis on integrity and service.

Job Summary

This role performs professional accounting work including compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data, based on an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and bookkeeping experience

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for production of key financial documents including Statutory accounts; monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecast processes; monthly management accounts pack
  • Track and review results vs budget and forecast and investigating variances with operations team
  • Manage and participate in the monthly accounting cycle, including assisting with the organization and co-ordination of the month end process and associated Board reports
  • Monitor and review inventory balances, material usage variance, purchase price variance
  • Helps others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice
  • Works closely with department managers to expand financial analysis and needed reporting
  • Analyzes existing standard costs to understand PPV risk and assist in setting annual standard costs for site
  • Additional job duties/responsibilities as assigned by management

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Awareness of business trends and relevant KPIs
  • Skillful in creating comprehensive Excel spreadsheets, including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
  • Resourceful in thoroughly analyzing data to provide program recommendations
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to analyze data and determine corrective actions
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence with all vendors, customers, colleagues, and senior leadership
  • Customer service focus with the ability to respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with several competing priorities
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems/applications
  • Must be a self-starter, needs to be able to work independently and seek out work
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Experience and qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance
