Job Description


About The Position

As the Senior Manager, Talent & Recruitment Consulting, you will be a key member of KIPP Foundation’s Network Talent Team, contributing to our team purpose to build and sustain healthy talent ecosystems within KIPP regions. You will support our strategy to build KIPP regions’ capacity to recruit and hire excellent, anti-racist teachers and leaders, ensuring that schools are 80% hired by the last day of school. You will partner closely with over 25 regions to create and iterate on the resources that support 125+ recruiters across the country, including the codified KIPP Recruitment Playbook that outlines research-backed best practices. You will also be the product manager for the network-wide Applicant Tracking System, helping our KIPP regions develop data monitoring systems that lead to equitable hiring practices and a diverse teacher workforce.


Responsibilities

As the Senior Manager, Talent & Recruitment Consulting, you will be responsible for:


Strategy Development

  • In collaboration with the Director, Talent & Recruitment Consulting, codify and define best practices for recruitment and selection of teachers and leaders to ensure schools are 80% hired by the last day of school

  • Conduct research, synthesize findings and make recommendations on effective and equitable recruitment practices

  • Lead process to revise and project manage the KIPP Recruitment Playbook, managing workload across the team and ensuring playbook publication strategy meets regional needs

  • Support in designing the strategy to develop KIPP’s regional recruiters and recruitment team managers

  • Collaborate with all team members to continuously identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency in cross-team work


Management and Execution

  • Partner with regions to build their recruitment systems and practices so that they create robust and equitable recruitment pipelines

  • Lead project management for revisions to the Playbook and other resources that support regional recruiter development

  • Lead communications with recruitment community, including monthly newsletter, requests for data collection, updates on tools, etc.

  • Product manage the KIPP recruitment tools, including our Applicant Tracking System, staffing plan, exemplars and templates for the Playbook; iterate on existing tools to align with research and best practices

  • Support the planning of virtual learning sessions for regional recruiters to track data, get training on the use of recruitment tools, and share network-wide lessons learned

  • Manage network-wide contracts with outside vendors and relevant communications with regions

  • Design approach to measuring impact and adjust solutions based on data


Team Leadership

  • Contribute to cohesive execution of the team vision and collaboration across the team and the overall KIPP Foundation

  • Connect with teammates to ensure coordination across the team, in service of our regions; look across the KIPP Foundation to ensure collaboration and cohesion of strategy; work effectively across lines of difference to drive our goals for equitable talent systems across the KIPP network

  • Tool & Product Development: Excellent product manager who can lead a product management process to create valuable, research-based, user-friendly, high-use tools

  • Planning & Execution: Skilled at project management; able to own a project plan from kick-off to close-out, driving multiple competing priorities forward

  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Adept at problem solving and critical thinking; able to structure analyses, formulate hypotheses, gather and synthesize data, develop and assess alternatives and build a case for recommendations

  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Strong stakeholder manager who can build and engage in productive relationships with regional leaders to inform product development and refinement; can effectively communicate to stakeholders both verbally and in written form

  • Mission & Student Focus: Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity; supports the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP serves; holds self and others accountable for centering equity

Qualifications


Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience operating in product development and/or management and/or knowledge management, ideally for a school system or in an education nonprofit

  • Experience in the field of talent strategy highly preferred, including deep functional knowledge of recruitment processes and systems

  • Track record of successful project management including the execution of on time work and ability to collaborate successfully with teammates and other partners

  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System a plus (SmartRecruiters, Salesforce, Workday, etc)


Work Conditions

  • The Senior Manager, Talent & Recruitment Consulting will report to the Director, Talent & Recruitment Consulting

  • Travel requirements: Up to 10%

  • Full-time, exempt role

Work Conditions

Willingness to travel frequently (10-12 days monthly and 4-6 consecutive weeks during the summer), including some weekends


Location

It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of Washington DC given the focus on event planning in Policy and Public Affairs. This role also has the option of working from a remote office full time. KIPP Foundation office is in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington DC.
