Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Network Architect, administers the daily operations, design, installation, maintenance, and documentation of Central New Mexico Community College's (CNM) digital network supporting the data, voice, and video communications of the college.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains LAN/WAN and Wireless network connectivity at all CNM campuses. This includes troubleshooting problems, coordinating efforts of managed services and communications vendors, as well as working closely with CNM staff who use network services.
- Coordinates network administrators, delegates, and communicates activities for the support and implementation of network equipment and software.
- Provides LAN/WAN and Wireless design engineering and project planning, working with Network Infrastructure Director, ITS staff, functional customers and vendors to prepare design engineering plans and recommends processes, procedures, and standards for seamless maintenance and modifications.
- Project management of LAN/WAN and Wireless implementations, upgrades and conversion projects.
- Assists the Network Infrastructure Director with related projects which includes planning, design, testing and implementation, and often includes coordination of all CNM staff involved in the project, oversight of contractors and involvement in procurement activities.
- Develops and maintains network documentation; utilizes applicable software applications to develop and modify construction documents and drawings, and to generate detailed plans.
- Assists the Network Infrastructure Director with development of training plans and training opportunities for network administrators to ensure all staff are qualified to work with current technologies in use at CNM.
- Maintains understanding of network industry direction and vendor capabilities with respect to wired and wireless network devices, including routers, switches, access points and networking protocols.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimums
- Current Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification or higher.
- AND
- Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or related industry and five (5) years of work experience.
- OR
- Associate's Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or related industry and seven (7) years of work experience
