Job description
Who We Are:
We are a hypersonic transportation startup focused on doing what people once thought was impossible. Our virtuoso engineers will change the future of flight because you will help them navigate the road to that opportunity.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Create the map for everything
At the epicenter of our time planning, you’ll collaborate with project managers to coordinate, schedule, and monitor the timing of projects across the entire Venus development landscape. You’ll be our expert in what needs to happen, when, and why. Part obsessive data junkie, part intuitive sage, you’ll anticipate schedule changes, mentally imagineering alternative routes to our destination. You’ll be our oracle of options.
Report the vital news
Like a journalist, you are the source of objective information about project performance, explaining and reporting on the status of projects in progress, their critical timing, and other schedule-related trends. Your audience is a combination of project managers and senior leaders
who can’t wait for your daily, weekly, and monthly updates.
Be a relationship expert
Whether you’re talking with project managers, directors, external suppliers, or executives, you’ll guide their understanding by laying out the relationships, dependencies, and consequences of the timing options they’re considering. When someone wants to alter the
pace of a project’s “X,” you’ll explain its connection and consequences to Y and Z because you’ll have already mapped out those intersections.
Own some impressive bragging rights
You’ll be able to tell your friends and family that you’re not just juggling spreadsheets and Access files like lesser schedulers do. No — you’re making a spaceplane that will take anyone anywhere in the world in an hour. (Meeting in Singapore, check. Home for dinner, check.) Of
course, you’ll keep the details of how we do this confidential, but the public overview is pretty awesome.
What You Have:
- An obsession for organization and accurate, detailed plans and schedules.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- A balance of approachability and authority.
- Five or more years of scheduling in aerospace, including critical path planning, reporting, analytics, and forecasting
- Fluency and intermediate-level powers with related software applications, such as MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Project — or Primavera P6.
- Experience with scheduling that incorporates collaboration with stakeholders, logic, and cause/effect relationships.
- Use of planning systems that measure baselines, milestones, constraints, resources, costs, and hours.
- An ingrained habit of proactive follow-up when projects don’t take their expected course.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Fascination with the intricacies of aerospace and engineering development, including supply chain and manufacturing considerations.
- Ability to work daily in our Houston office. (Applicants for in-office work will be given preference over applicants who seek remote work.)
- Persistent questioning intended to fine-tune data. You “trust but verify” that the information you are working with is accurate.
- Confidence based on mastery.
Benefits:
Working with Venus Aerospace, you’ll receive a 401(k) plan, stock options, and medical-dental-
vision benefits. Other benefits include a 9/80 flexible schedule, unlimited PTO, and professional
development opportunities.
Location:
On-site, located in Houston, TX.
