Job description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under occasional supervision, plans, coordinators, implements and evaluates senior service program policies and procedures as directed by state, federal and administrative codes, as well as professional practice standards. Responsible for supervising operations, activities, volunteers, and staff of senior center; ensures provision of home delivered and congregate meals and transportation for seniors in the community. Performs related administrative and professional work as required. Reports to a director level manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for performance of full and part-time staff and volunteers; approves contracts, performance and hiring documents as appropriate; responsibility includes training, counseling, directing all program staff within senior services.
Responsible for problem-solving issues and other services to support social, administrative, and recreational programs.
Serves as agency liaison with the Lt. Governors’ Office, SC Association of Council on Aging Directors and Central Midlands Council of Government; responsible for all compliance with the standards and contracts with each agency and governmental department regarding senior services.
Responsible for information system, including managing data, designing, and developing appropriate reporting and related work.
Establish, implement and evaluate policy, procedure and program content within senior services
Prepare, review and administer program budgets
Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned
staff.
Performs all work in compliance with applicable policies procedures, regulations and standard of quality and safety.
Participates in various marketing and public relations efforts, including giving public presentations, representing the department at agency, community and Commission functions.
Takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all citizens that utilize department property and facilities and take part in any activity offered by the department.
Conduct fact-finding investigation of patron/citizen regarding a grievance, complaint or question and take action as indicated within scope of authority.
Organize and coordinate agency-wide projects assigning to subordinates as needed. Plan and consult with others as necessary. Write reports, policies and procedures and indicated.
Keeps abreast of trends and issues regarding older adult pubic needs by reading professional publications and attending conferences, workshops, professional meetings.
Receives and reviews various records and reports including vouchers, volunteer records, timecards, permission forms, job applications, medical release forms, program registrations, etc.
Prepares a variety of documents, including but not limited to annual reports, planning sheets/lesson plans, surveys, program applications/registration, vouchers other records, reports, memos and correspondence.
Refers to policy and procedure manual, computer manuals, sports/game rules, safety manual, maps, dictionary etc.
Operates a vehicle, passenger van, and a variety of office equipment such as a computer, printer, typewriter, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, scanner, camera, audio-visual equipment etc. Uses a wheelchair lift and various adaptive equipment to make programs accessible to participants.
Uses computer and clerical supplies, art supplies, first aid supplies, sports paraphernalia, and various hand tools.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as immediate supervisor, other department personnel, subordinates, board members, committee members, civic community organizations, other government agencies, volunteers, teachers, program participants, parents, social workers, students, sales representatives, and the general public.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists other departments, facilities and employees in the planning and execution of events; serves on various agency and community committees as appropriate.
Performs general administrative/clerical duties as required, including preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, entering computer data, attending meetings etc.
Performs duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with course work in psychology, social work or related field and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Pay: $48,759.00 - $73,138.00 per year
