We are seeking a friendly, genuine, problem solver to be the cornerstone of our Stihl product and service offering to our Neighbors. The Stihl Service Tech must have a knack for providing great customer service and a desire or demonstrated experience associated with small engine repair, troubleshooting and maintenance. While we would welcome an expert in the world of Stihl products, repair and services; we are willing to provide all the training and growth opportunities to the right candidate.This is a high visibility and impactful role for our team. A desire to learn and take ownership of this area is the a must have for interested candidates. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who operates with a high degree of attention to detail and takes great pride in ownership/craftsmanship. The successful candidate must be eager to learn quickly and follow guidelines while also seeking expert support when required to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
- All Stihl product lines to include, but not limited to: chainsaws, trimmers, blowers/vacuums, hand tools, pressure washers, personal protective equipment, etc.
- Replacement and upgrade parts across product lines
- Print and online catalog, technical manuals and other necessary resources
- Sales cycles and reorder processes, standards and requirements
- Basic knowledge of other Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) product offerings (e.g. Ego, Craftsman, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ariens, etc.)
- Basic start up procedures for new product sales
- Demonstrate safety precautions and requirements
- Offer complimentary products (within Stihl and beyond)
- Basic through advanced diagnostic assessments
- Basic through advanced in-house repair processes
- Define and maintain service offering standards
- Own inventory management and contribute to reorder recommendations for Stihl retail floor products as well as replacement parts/tools
- Maintain service area cleanliness and all assets in exceptional condition including tools, diagnostic equipment, etc.
- Zone maintenance for Stihl product area (e.g. stocking, price changes, resets, etc.)
- Update retail prices as required and directed by management
- Manage and maintain service pipeline to meet customer expectations and service completion deadlines
- Clearly explain diagnosis and required repairs to customers including warranty claims
- Actively communicate with Neighbors regarding special order products, services/repairs in progress, etc.
- Ability to review manuals and warranties accurately
- Process and actively track warranty returns and claims made through Stihl
- Basic knowledge of other departments, zones and services throughout the store
- Become the on-staff expert for all things Stihl
- Complete Silver Service Technician certification within two months of onboarding and actively pursue higher level training and certifications (candidate will be paid for time and expenses associated with obtaining required training and certifications)
- Provide product and service knowledge to Sales Associates, Supervisors and Managers
- Develop knowledge regarding Ace Customer Service Standards
Pay range is $19-$24/hour

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical skills
- Tool usage (i.e. right tool for the right application)
- Equipment maintenance
- Excellent organizational and follow up skills
- High degree of attention to detail

- Provide and accept constructive suggestions and instructions
- Small engine parts and functions (2 and 4 stroke)
- Battery operated equipment functions
- Basic computer skills
- Able to communicate effectively through written communication such as email
- Willingness and ability to learn Point of Sale and Inventory Management Unit functionality within EPICOR
- Willingness and ability to learn Stihl Dealer website/portal applications (e.g. eBiz, Parts Lookup, eService, etc.)
- High School degree, some trade school preferred
- Working knowledge of hardware related products
- Read, write and speak English fluently
- Dress appropriately and according to company policy
- Tasks may involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight may reach 50 lbs
