JOB SUMMARY
Our Shift Lead Cook provides a great dining experience to all our guests by creating nutritious and delicious food with friendly customer service. This is a seasonal position with a flexible work schedule. Our Shift Lead Cooks work between 10-40 hours per week with our busiest seasons being summer and fall when full-time, and sometimes overtime work may be required. Hours are very limited to none from November to February.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review and implement the Food Services Managers meal plan from start to finish.
- Manage all aspects of food preparation including cooking and serving food according to set standards.
- Accurately calculate ingredients and serving sizes for guests at each meal.
- Accurately time food preparation so that meal is served on time and at maximum quality.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Kitchen Assistants and Staff for preparation and clean-up of meals at camp.
- Assist in creating a clean, safe and accommodating food service experience for campers and staff.
- Follow all state and health requirements.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Basic skills in reading, following directions, using kitchen equipment including dishwashers, and preparing safe, nutritious meals.
- You must have or be willing to obtain a Wisconsin Food Service Handler certification (training is provided).
- At least three months experience working in a food service capacity as Cook or Cook Assistant is required. Experience cooking for very large groups preferred.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, bending and reaching, maintaining effective work in a sometimes very warm kitchen environment.
