Position Overview

The Shipping Department Material Handler is responsible for operating a Hi-Lo as a means of moving product in a safe and efficient manner. Material handlers must deal with the stress of managing multiple tasks at once, and prioritizing tasks based on the situation at hand. They may be asked to perform multiple roles depending on what is necessary on any given day. Their greatest skill is having the ability to understand the safety/product/quality and relate this to the team.

Organization

A strong predictor of success for a shipping department material handler is the ability to work independently and within a team environment with initiative and sense of urgency. They must demonstrate a strong understanding of processes, teamwork, positive attitude, willingness to learn, and reliable attendance. It’s important to have a willingness to learn and be adaptable to change in a growth oriented manufacturing environment.

Principle Expectations and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure safe handling and movement of all products and racks. All material handling should be performed with the focus on SAFE as well as secure handling of the product in order to avoid damage.

2. Monitor and communicate accurate inventory control within the facility.

3. Load/Unload incoming and outgoing shuttles to the warehouse.

4. Perform periodic audits of stored materials for quality compliance. This also pertains to material that is being loaded and shuttled to the warehouse.

5. Process all shipping and receiving documentation and records.

6. Maintain a current and valid Hi-Lo license. It is required that you pass the test within your first day of work.

7. Working primarily at our Marysville facility, but may be requires to assist with operations at our warehouse facility in Port Huron.

8. SAP usage as it relates to product movements.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.

Required experience:

- Hi-Lo: 3-5 Years

- Shipping and Receiving: 1+ Years

- Pregis sponsors a drug free workplace. A drug screen is required prior to employment and random drug testing may occur throughout employment.

- Overtime and weekend work is occasionally necessary, and team members are expected to be willing and available for work beyond the standard 5 day, 40 hour work week.
