We are currently seeking a Project/Shop Manager to join our team. We are Fabwright Origins, a Boston Based design and fabrication company. We are a startup company that designs and builds custom furniture, cabinetry and signage. We also provide CNC, Laser cutting and 3D printing services for industrial and individual applications. As our project manager, your job will be to coordinate people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results. The project manager will be the one to lead the fabrication technician team in fabrication. You will be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organization and timeline, so the project manager will have to be on-site most of the time.

Project Manager Requirements

Project managers should have a background in business skills, management, budgeting and analysis. You should be an excellent communicator and comfortable managing multiple tasks. You also need to be a team player and have a problem-solving aptitude.

  • A bachelor’s degree or master's degree in a related field. (preferred)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in project management, especially in a related field.
  • Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.
  • Experience as a construction project manager, IT project manager, or ERP project manager.
  • Able to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of ERP implementation.
  • Experience overseeing a manufacturing project or shop.
  • Budget management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Contract: This role will be initially structured as a 1099 contractor. After 30 days we will make an assessment whether to continue 1099 employment, or to restructure as a W2 employee, along with any adjustments to any duties and responsibilities. If said assessment results in a decision in favor of any changes to the contract, Fabwright Origins and the Fabrication Technician will sign a new contract reflecting these changes.

Training: Fabwright Origins will provide all necessary initial training resources. If 3rd party training beyond this is required in order to complete assignments, Fabwright Origins will reimburse the Fabrication Technician for educational expenses, given that such expenses and courses are reviewed and approved by Fabwright Origins prior to the start of any 3rd party training. Any time spent by the Fabrication Technician for training purposes will not be considered billable work hours if (a) attendance is outside regular working hours, (b) attendance is voluntary, (c) the course, lecture, or meeting is not directly related to the employee’s job, and (d) the employee does not perform productive work during such attendance.

Timekeeping:The Fabrication Technician is not to exceed 20 hours each week without written approval from the Fabwright Origins owner, Jemuel Stephenson. Hours will be tracked via ADP. Pay is bi-weekly. If a correction to a timesheet is needed, a written request via email or other approved channel must be submitted before the deadline of the nearest Friday at 6:00p. Any hours submitted after this weekly deadline will not be counted on the timesheet.

Termination: As in the case of all Massachusetts-based employee contracts, your employment with Fabwright Origins is on an “at will” basis, meaning that either you or Fabwright Origins may terminate your employment at any time, with or without notice. We request at least 30 business days written notice if you need to leave the position.
