Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a qualified Site Supervisor at its La Salle, IL plant.

Sign on bonus: $5000.00

This facility consists of an Air Separation plant which produces Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Crude Argon. The La Salle Supervisor will lead both a local Operations team and a remote team running smaller on-site plants in Easter Iowa. Nitrogen and Oxygen produced at the La Salle facility is delivered to customers throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana. This position reports to the La Salle Site Manager.

This role will require the candidate to gain an understanding of all aspects of the site's operation with a specific focus on leadership skills as a front-line supervisor. This Site Supervisor will have direct leadership accountability for the site operators and Gen Gas team. The site supervisor is responsible for overall facility safety, plant operational reliability, implementing productivity improvements, budget management and customer interface as well as working in conjunction with the regional maintenance team coordinating all maintenance activities at the site.

Key Responsibilities for this position include:

Working with the La Salle plant team to ensure the following elements of Operational discipline are in place and functioning properly:
  • Follow and maintain operating procedures; handle cost and execute according to budget
  • Understand safe operating, design, permit limits; activity practice alarm management
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting skills and operational “know-how”
  • Use and update P&IDs, ensure P&ID literacy is achieved
  • Skill and knowledge to implement MOC/Jumper Bypass
  • Lear & understand the process technology and chemistry
  • Implement and share standard processes, train in their use. Learn from incidents and investigation.
  • Follow and carry out site PM and MI programs
  • Excel in application of safe work practices, conduct BSP, preparedness for emergencies and upsets
  • Ownership and accountability; cost control and executing according to budget with ability to deep drill and explain deviations.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • 5+ years of industry experience (including military)
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to EH&S
  • Self-starter with proven leadership abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in process plant operation / maintenance
  • Ability to build relationships with multiple support groups
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
