Slitter Helper
Follow established practice and procedures, or supervisor's instruction in performance of routine duties in the setup and operation of mill.
Duties:
1. Machine Set Up- Assist the Slitter Operator to perform a variety of "Set up" duties including set up and tear down of slitterbox; selecting proper knife sets, spacers, and shims, checking their condition. Set arbors in place.
2. Machine Operation - Assist the Slitter Operator to perform a variety of "Operational" duties including the tear down and set up of arbor. Monitoring of all controls on machine for slitting operation. Secure completed coils.
3. Load and unload coils into the slitter.
4. Assist the Operator in transferring slit metal from slitter and load the up coiler.
5. Operate the upcoiler.
6. Move and arrange material using forklifts, hoists, cranes, and manual moving for the purpose of ensuring an uninterrupted flow of production while giving proper care to the material being moved.
7. Follow oral and published job instructions and prescribed or established procedures.
8. Check material against orders and set up sheets for correct identification, inclusion of all items, count and other data required.
9. Routinely use various hand tools and measuring devices.
10. Give proper care to the equipment and tools used. This will include keeping all tooling, knives, and plastics clean, stored in proper area and ready for use.
11. Maintain effective communication with co-workers & supervisor for the purpose of optimum production levels.
12. Inspect metal for surface defects (laminations, scratches, etc.).
13. Detect and report questionable material, faulty, operation, or need for maintenance to Supervisor.
14. Practice good housekeeping. This will include, but not limited to, sweeping, keeping work area free of all clutter, and proper storage of all tools and other work-related items.
15. May be required to provide on the job training to co-workers new to their position.
16. Observe prescribed safety regulations to reduce the risk of injury to self and others.
17. Follow Lock Out Tag Out Procedures
Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Prior industrial experience preferred
- Basic Math skills
