Under the direct supervision of the Conservation Supervisor, the Special Corpsmember (Program Support Assistant) performs the following duties:

In conjunction with the Conservation Supervisor and PSCW Conservationist II, engage in a range of policy issues and assist in the development and design of local Center policies, procedures, and forms related to Forestry Corps program. Assist with revamping local policies, Corpsmember support forms, and local procedure development. Develop and foster a working environment that is consistent with the mission, goals, and guiding principles of the department.

Assist the Conservation Supervisor and PSCW staff in the operation and documentation related to specially funded project work. Keep the District Director and Conservation Supervisor informed about special projects and issues related to reporting project initiatives, progress, and barriers. Assist lead staff with special project reporting including forestry corps projects, special grant funded projects, and other special projects deemed by District Director.

Provide administrative assistance to lead staff. Maintains record management and retention schedules at the San Diego District. Assist staff with tracking and filing of project, vehicle, and procurement supporting documents/files, including but not limited to copies of contracts, project folders, P-cards, vehicles, etc. Assist in monitoring, issuing, and maintaining the inventory of all equipment and supplies. Ensure accuracy of property, equipment and facility inventories when needed.

Assist in scheduling vehicle maintenance and repair. Facilitate transportation of vehicles and Corpsmembers for appointments. Assist with maintaining an accurate vehicle status report and files. Other duties that are included, but not limited to, are tracking mileage, Voyager Cards, vehicle supplies, and the cleanliness inspection of vehicles.

Promote and represent the CCC in the community through regular, ongoing outreach activities with the media, elected officials, other governmental entities (federal, state and local) and community organizations. Ensure that all state, department and district policies and procedures are followed regarding these contacts.

Responsible for various clerical duties which include receiving, distributing, and forwarding all incoming mail and outgoing mail. Provide weekly reports to the District Director, Conservation Supervisor, and key staff personnel.

Assist with telephone coverage in the front office and public interaction while maintaining courteous and business-like manner.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $17.50 per hour
