The Senior Media and Public Relations Professional will provide leadership and guidance in the implementation of strategic activities to help support the business units’ goals for profitable growth by building brand awareness and demonstrating thought leadership on key issues and trends in the media and on social media as well as contribute to a globally effective one voice communication policy.

Responsibilities
In this role you will:
  • Manage media inquiries from top-tier and other reporters. Vet all inquiries. Identify subject matter experts. Prep SMEs and monitor all media interviews.
  • Develop and manage strategically the implementation of public relations/social media programs to support the business units’ marketing plans as well as global corporate campaigns. This may include the development of press releases, byline articles, media pitches, surveys, social media content, etc.
  • Identify planned and existing content (e.g., internal announcements, agent blogs, Munich Re webpage articles) that further support business goals and can be used for media pitching. Share appropriate content with the PR agency for further discussion/media pitching.
  • Oversee the publication of fresh and relevant content in support of the business strategy and Group topics to the Munich Re America traditional and social media channels.
  • Manage the monitoring of relevant media landscape and the Munich Re America social media channels for unusual activity, inquiries, complaints, etc., and immediately escalate any concerns to help mitigate reputational threats.
  • Reputation sensitivity and ability to manage critical issues, including development of crisis plans to respond to potential threats to the organization’s reputation in accordance with Groups communication.
  • Participate in and support global public relations/social media campaigns to further build up upon Munich Re Group’s global brand and reputation and to support local (U.S.) business goals.
  • Coordinate inquiries and content with global spokesperson to secure speaking consistently with one voice to the public.
  • Utilize online tools to monitor press inquiries and develop PR and social media reports to be shared with executives to demonstrate the media/social media plan’s support of business goals.
  • Keep up to date and informed on new PR/social media trends and make recommendations to adapt accordingly, actively seeking chances of digitalization for up to date media relations.
  • Manage the day to day activities of the PR agency to increase media opportunities and additional appearance and the annual contract renewal process.
  • Participate on the Emergency Management Group for America entities of Munich Re.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to raise and support the media profiles for senior executives.
Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.

Your profile

Successful candidates will possess the following experience, skills, and capabilities:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years of business experience in the insurance or financial services industry or at a public relations agency, with 10+ years public relations experience as well as social media. Global industry experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional track record of implementing innovative strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Forward thinking, team-oriented and calculated risk taker.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization and manage expectations accordingly.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Attentive to detail and quality. Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate next steps.
  • Good network with journalists (ideally in finance/insurance)
  • Experience working in an international organization with different cultural settings, coordinate with headquarter abroad and colleagues around the globe.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Experience taking solutions from idea to implementation, seeking actively for chances and topics, with a strategic view.
  • Balancing and prioritizing tasks, self-responsible, self-motivated, accountable, deadline-oriented, ability to prioritize, being a quick learner within a highly matrixed environment
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong knowledge of social media tools and MS Office Suite.
